Who has it better? Sports gambling Rules
This is a list of rules I've put together based on gambling on sports ( ie throwing the coins to decide which side is going to win/defeat the other ).
So i-ching in this style, is all about the J line versus the U line and determining which side ends up better off.
One thing I've noticed about this style of i-ching is taking the emphasis off the meaning of the stars ( G or K or B, etc ) and putting the emphasis on their strength via the elements in comparison to their opposition. I cant vouch for stock market questions, or career questions etc, because I know in those circumstances you have to look at the meaning of the stars. What Im saying is with questions related to "will side a defeat side b" we are straight up looking at the J line versus the U line, because I've had results where one side has a healthy B star and they have won.
That being said, I do still look at the stars in relation to how they kill or produce the J line and the U line ( based on the strength of these stars )
I will update this thread with continuous experimentation and experience and understanding from my own results.
Some of this info I may have relayed previously but in any case
Here goes:
1. Often you’ll find both sides ( J and U ) have problems stopping them ( ie, bounds, strikes emptiness ). You have to work out whose problems are worse.
For example, J line is weak and empty, and the opponent U line is strong and moves but is bound to the date in one and bound to the month in the other.
Even though the first side ( J ) is weak and empty and the other side ( U ) is strong, it has 2 bounds on it, therefore it makes it a lot harder to move. So what good is strength if it cant move?
2. Sometimes an element will be struck by the month and bound by the date. This doesn’t necessarily mean it will be evened out. If unsure, throw the coins again.
3. On a single hex gua, if both J and U are bound to other elements on other lines of the gua, ( and they are not struck free ) look at whose side is stronger based on the new element they take. It doesn’t matter if one side has additional bounds to the date. The fact that they are both bound irreparably to other lines on the gua means you have to look at whose side is still stronger.
4. A bind to the date that won’t be broken makes that side worse off than the opponent's line retreating, or the opponent's line being weak and free ( of binds, emptiness and striking lose ).
5. One sides line is healthy and empty and the opponent's line disappears and is struck by month, the empty one has it worse off.
I know a lot of these rules almost seem temperamental and can change based on other factors, but they exist none the less. I think its just about getting a feel for them through continuous recognition. I will continue to update this list.
Please feel free to argue or debate if you feel any of these rules are incorrect or there is inconsistency.
