United States vs Mr. Chui
On September 3, 2010 Alex Chiu pled guilty to 10 counts of mail fraud. Mr. Chiu was sentenced to 3 years of probation and ordered to pay $11,000.00 in fines & assessment and $2,187.20 in restitution. According to the complaint filed on December 1, 2009 by the United States Attorney's office, Alex Chiu conducted a business over the internet, in which he sold what he claimed to "immortality devices" or "Eternal Life Devices". The complaints stated that Mr. Chiu did knowingly devise and intend to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud individuals who purchased merchandise from his web site as to a material matter, and to obtain money by means of material facts, and did so by offering items for sale on his web site and elsewhere, providing a "money back guarantee" regarding those items, accepting payments for those items, and then refusing to provide all of the refunds that he had promised for returned merchandise. http://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/business-reviews/health-and-medical-products/alex-chiu-in-san-francisco-ca-14104
