I first off want to again say happy birthday to Mr. Chiu who has devoted so much of his life to sharing his knowledge with us. Secondly I propose we make a cheatsheet for all 64 hexagrams. As silly as this sounds lets admit it. Anything we do to make understanding this stuff better that can be done should be! That's how confusing and complicated this oracle prophecising system is. He I am unclear about any of this please say so.

I dont think that would ever work. You would need to account for the date and its relation to all 64 hexagrams. A gua's meaning one day could mean the complete opposite on another day.

Exactly what i was thinking. It would work if the person who was writing out the cheatsheet would be willing to apply multiple possible answers that would be looked up based on the combination of the date and the hexagram..... For example like a times table.

Believe me I understand exactly what your saying in regards to different dates meaning different answers to same hexagrams. So why don't we just make the cheatsheet to have multiple answers that are chosen with BOTH the hexagram and the date. It's very easy really if you understand iching.... I however don't have it down enough to actually make the cheatsheet myself.

But then you'd also have to take into account what your question is about, like if your asking about health, money, a football game, because the appointed will be different each time. Again the answer would be different even if it was on the same day because your appointed star switches.

Yes but that goes without saying. I already figured that as well when i started this topic. I just didn't mention it until now because it's something so obviously needed in the cheatsheet.
