I don't think he is dead. I think he made up all this thing because he wear Rings and wants to live a retired life since he is going to live forever. Of course he doesn't want to be BOTH famous and immortal, or people will hunt for him forever.

Come on, it's not hard. New identity card, new home, some change in looking and a swiss bank account. He can do it easily. The hard part is the fake death, but it can be done with a million $ and a good organization.
