Melbourne Cup: Should I bet on ..... Hello!
Was just wondering if someone could please check these hexagrams for me? I have had a go at doing them myself, however a couple of them are a bit confusing. I have decided to also take into account colours to see if that can help - afterall, I am dealing with horses and they can do crazy things
Thanks!
Should I bet on Master O'Reilly to win the 2007 Melbourne Cup

Ks is strong and healthy, which is not what I really want on the self line. (K star means that I have got nothing if I bet on this horse to win). Grey K indicates leisure - again, something that I don't think I want on the self line.
Pe is bound to Ks (is this strenthened by yo day?). Because of the boundage, the Gt hider (money star) has to wait until h or y strikes.
Rm is weakened by day yo and month sh. Rm and yo day strike. Green is a lucky colour - lucky for the opponent.
Bcn is healthy - this is the money killer. It is bounded to yo day. I don't think this is very good.
I don't think I should bet on Master O'Reilly.
Should I bet on Purple Moon to win the 2007 Melbourne Cup?

The Gw on the self line is weakened by both the yo day and the sh mth. G is money star.
Rcn is bound to Pyo. Pyo needs m to strike so that it can produce Km. Km is weakened by yo day though. Would this be bad for the opponent, making it good for me to win? But then, yo day could strike Km. :?
Ky is bounding to Bh, needs e to strike to. Bh produces Ge which is weakened by yo day.
I think that this one has a chance on being "in the money" (top 3 places).
Should I bet on Efficient to win the 2007 Melbourne Cup?

Ks on the self line is healthy in mth sh but is weakened by t day. Gt hider is bound to t day - today is t day, so does that mean it's moving?. Pw strikes Ks, killing it which allows it to produce the Gt star. Is this good?
Rm is healthy. Rm bounds to sh month and Bsh. Needs cn to strike. Rm star isn't moving.
I did have heaps typed up, but my browser crashed :x
Any ideas?
I'll post a few more tomorrow morning before I go to work.
Cheers and Thanks!! :D

Bet it all on Efficient.
wintergreen- 11-04-2007
Purple Moon has a weak Gw star...i wouldnt bet on this one
Efficient may be a good one to bet.
Ms. Finland looks like a good one to bet.
the throw 2 for miss finland
U is healthy but the day yo strikes it to move, does it kill it?
Pw and Pe weak on day yo
If P moves to produce the B, does the P kill the K?
If it does, then this throw is not good to bet

Some news :)
After Saturday's race, Miss Finland has been stratched and has been put out to pasture for a well deserved break.
I did a little experiement on saturday and I'm kinda kicking myself. I chose a race at Perth that only had 6 horses running. For each horse, I asked if I should bet on it to finish in the top 3. Well, I got the top three horses but there was one that I wasn't too sure about.
Silly me should have just done the 3 horses on a trifecta ticket, allways, instead of just boxing them in (select a horse for 1st, 2nd and 3rd to finish in that order) and adding the one that I wasn't sure about in for 3rd.
If I had of done the three horses all-ways (finish in any order), I could have turned $15 into $137. Instead, I didn't win anything. Silly me! But the race was freaky to watch though and I really spun out when there was a photo for 3rd place.
I tried this method again for a race that was in England, but it was a little too confusing to read - I think this might have been because of the different time zone. The Perth race was easy - it took me just over an hour to do all six horses and read the hex's.
So I think I will just concentrate on local races until I get a bit better at it :) Also, I think that my tosses now for the Melbourne Cup might be tainted by my own thoughts as I was given a few tips over the weekend whilst working - also, I have been in deep discussion with my other half as well as reading the newspapers.
So, you think Efficient? This is actually a good horse and has been under-rated this campaign. He is actually a New Zealand stayer that is trained here in Australia. In New Zealand it is very common for them to race over 3000m often and in wet conditions. Efficient does have the potential to win this race as he hasn't been over-exerted and will be resuming tomorrow after having a small break.
Yep, it's raining in Victoria at the moment and it looks set to continue tomorrow :)
I'll get my other half to put some money on Efficient for me this afternoon - I normally back more than one horse in the Melbourne Cup, which just seems to be Aussie tradition. I have small bets on Zipping (fantastic run on saturday), On A Jeune (who ran 2nd to Makybe Diva 2 years ago) and Princess Coup (another New Zealander).
I'll let you all know how I go, it probably won't be until thursday though as I'm working tomorrow and my eldest has an appointment on Wednesday.
Wish me luck :)

Which one won?
Did you do all the ques in one time?
I think that the ques you ask with the extra info might be helping you get the right hex.
If i ask a ques without more info then you cant get a more info on your hex
if you ask with more info then i think you can get more info in your hex

The mighty grey, Efficient won :D
As soon as he came out wide coming around the bend onto the home straight, I knew he had it in the bag. It was a brilliant run, fantastic finish - he won by a half-length to Purple Moon.
What I have been doing after the races is going back and really studying the hexagrams. After looking at Master O'Reilly's hexagram for the Caulfield Cup I could see that he wasn't going to have much luck for the Melbourne Cup as an element came into effect that made a money killer strong.
I have done about 4 races, including the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. It is really interesting to watch the race knowing which ones just don't have any chance whatsoever - they are the easier ones to pick.
I think doing the question on the day of the race is the way to go. I was trying to do one yesterday for today except the day element for yesterday was e-II and the month element changed today from sh to h. So I am about to go and ask the questions again for this particular race and see what happens. I'm finding it easier to concentrate on the questions and my mind isn't wandering away on me - 6 horse race is easy to ask about, but 10 is difficult still.
The main thing is that I'm giving it a go and I am really enjoying super i-ching............
Even my other half like me doing it. But then, he did win over $600 on Efficient on Tuesday :)
Thanks heaps for your help,
Cheers!
