If you find someone incredibly atttractive for their personality (not just appreciating it, but finding it attractive) then their body will probably not look ugly to you. That's not to say that being better looking wouldn't be nice and beneficial however..that's how Alex makes his money.

...Ok I don't find your views to be representative at all of my experience with the world and that is most certainly not because I haven't experienced it. Look at any survey of what women value in a male partner and having a sense of humour and self-confidence will be ranked highly in almost all of them. If you don't believe me go and ask some female friends informally although since I'm assuming you're not rich and you believe that women are only interested in money, you may not have any. Anyway, these two traits are PERSONALITY traits. You see many women with ugly, poor guys who are self-confident and have a great sense of humour. That is a fact. Memorising The Divine Comedy might not help with most women, but when talking to a female professor of the subject she may just find your opinions fascinating enough to fall in love. Knowing Shakespeare on its own isn't enough if you're otherwise hopeless, but if you are charming, have a sense of humour, value yourself as a human being and can quote Romeo and Juliet at the right moment and to the right person - who needs money to pick up women. Women are people and people fall in love for all sorts of reasons. Intelligence (indicated by sense of humour) and confidence are both evolutionarily beneficial qualties - desirable in a mate. In fact, evolutionists argue that we evolved language, music, culture, wit e.t.c mainly to impress mates. It's not just about money or looks. Anyone who thinks it is, probably doesn't have a very accurate opinion of what a woman is - perhaps from not having truly gotten to know many of them and a varied sample. No offence guys but you have to give women credit - they're just as intelligent and rational as us, and they're more than just drooling gold-diggers. Many poor men have very attractive wives. That is dead on my friend. It is a combo of many factors. And personality factors like confidence, which shows you feel you can handle life's challenges, seem to outweigh other factors like looks. Money in our sociey denotes position and that is subconsiously very attractive to women too. But the personality factors are the biggest ones for women, certainly. This is actually a proven scientific fact, in case people don't realise it.

I didn't say being funny on its own was some key to attraction - I merely pointed out that it can be many traits, not just money and looks. In my opinion you have to be the right type of funny, and nothing works consistently unless you have good self-esteem and self-confidence because let's face it - nobody is going to think much of someone that thinks little of themself, and acts like it. I just think you're not grasping what I'm saying. I'm refuting the idea that women can only be attracted to men for their money or looks or some external quality...personality and intelligence are also important, probably overridingly so. I hope it won't take a Venn diagram to point out that just because women are often attracted to a sense of humour, doesn't mean every funny guy is attractive, or every humourous quip or action is sexy. And as for saying "SEXY IS NOT FUNNY" that's a rather closed definition of sexy, and really we're talking about two different things. Women can be attracted to a sense of humor, but it's not going to be a sexual attraction. You will be their humorous friend, end of story.

I don't know if it is different now then it was when I grew up. Yes everyone likes to look at beauty. But I have seen many beautiful women and handsome men, but once they open their mouth and show who they really are, the looks diminish. You start to notice their flaws. Because they are ugly inside. And I have seen people who are not the best looking, but you get to know them and then you start to see things that are attractive about them. Because they are nice, funny. or other positive things. So I think that looks are always a booster, but it is not the whole package. But that is my opinion .
