You've seen the way alex acts. It's only a matter of time, a few years maybe, before some incident will set him off and he'll say you are no longer his friend, the same way he disowns his family. Didn't he already blow up at you before because he thought you 'stole' his stripper?
Actually the materials to generate more sales depend on some things:
1. cut price
2. compare price to alex's fullprice products.
It's a well known tactic that when you show people two items, and one is more expensive than the other, they are more likely to buy the cheaper one than if you just showed the cheaper item by itself.
If you make more sales, that makes up for the smaller profit per item.
