Re:I found this story on Catholic tv, then found an
article on the web. It's about a Catholic saint named St. Francis of Assisi. In another post I was presented with a quote from the bible, which was used to ridicule Pagans for "walking through fires", and I find this to be an interesting story not only in response to that, but also concerning Islam:
"Francis himself, would make a mission to convert the King of Morocco. In the court of the king he challenged one of their Imams to debate, and at the last he stood in a fire and challenged the Imam to do likewise, which he would not. The king was very impressed by Francis, but in the end he refused to leave the demonic religion of Islam, and Francis left without his conversion, and without the martyrdom he desired."
Although I don't think the article does the story justice, by adding the adjective:
"demonic", I do think theres a great deal to learn from the story and in St. Francis's life as well. It is said he levitated at times, even when he didn't want to. He healed the sick, etc. Performing miracles (or magic, depending on how semanticly challenged you are)
