The universe is contantly expanding. What is it expanding into?
Exactly. It cannot expand in the nothing! It cannot even be in contact with the nothing. It's expanding into a field of energy, and there are countless other universes in this field of energy. And there are an infinte number of other dimensions, each full of universes.
See, now you're acknowledging all I was trying to say all along - that the universe has outer limits. It is expanding, and it is expanding into something and that thing, by your definition, is energy. Scientists have no bloody clue what it's expanding into, but have posited some sort of super-universe....Either way this universe as defied by the term clearly does have limits.
So is there a point where the something contacts a nothingness? Or is all that is all that is and ultimately limitless (beyond the scope of our universe)? Thinking about that just changed my perspective I think - I always thought of it as our universe, then another outside it, then nothing....But Franco makes a good point...that really cannot happen because in order for the nothing to exist it would have to be defined.
I'm still not sure I agree that there can be an infinite amount of other universes though...
