I want to do something different by posting a few really advanced examples I found. I hope to show what very experienced people see and how they think when they read hexagrams. wish i will be as good as these guys after 20 years. This is from an internet article wrritten by Mr Liu Wende. He wrote very influnential book called "20 methods of Gua". The article offers more examples on the usage of the 20 methods. In 1996 as stranger Mr. Wang says ge wants to ask about a grave. He cast the following hexagram.


Year: t, Month: w, Day: sh-III, Empty: w & wa

I looked over the hexagram carfully and said to him "this grave contains the body of your wife. She died in 1977 while traveling to home. She got close to her home' around 110 meters' when a car strike her. She died mostly due to injuries to the head. Mr Wang says that's exactly what happend! Several I Ching friends were there at the time and they were amazed. How did he figure it out? Here is the explanation translated to Alex's terms. I also provided some clarification to his explantion in the ().. To see who's in that grave' use the R star (beacuse the R star represnts corpse) R is y, y's relationship with the self line yo is bean killed , therefor it's teh slef lines G star, or wife. At the same time Ry is on the opponent line, the position of the wife. It's on the 2nd line, which represnts house, therefor we can deduct she is the wife from home. R y and the hider e traps each other with the relationship of the posting horse (The 12 branches are categorized into 3 classes, the posting horses:y,e,s,h, the 4 peach blossoms: t,m,w,yo, the 4 graves :c,cn,wa,sh; also the posting horse star on day sh is y) Posting horse reprensts travelling, therefor this is likely related to traffic accidents. the casting hour s, along with y and e forms the s,y,e trap. Even though there is no s in the hexagram itself, it still has infulence in the hexagram. Beacuse events progress from opponent line toward the self (progress events is one of the methods in the 20 methods; if the self line is yang, events progress from first line line upward; if the self line is ying, events progress from sixth line downwards), and the self line is the husband's position , the self line naturally rpresnts the opponent line's home. Therefore the tragedy happened when she was travelling home. When events progressed to line 4, we see 4 danger signs: 1) 4th line h strikes the e hiding undery, h also traps itself (self trap), h is also a posting horse branch, posting horse striking each other represnts traffic accidents. 2) 4th line is White Tiger (white color), represnting danger and bloodshed. although h is imprisoned in the month w, h's 12 stage growth cycle under day sh is Youth. (considered strong) White color Tiger is weak in month w (white tiger is metal by natur ), but it reside in the Duay trigram (duay is metal) , therefor it becomes strong again, so the danger of the white tiger is real. The hexagram is composed of Duay and Chen, metal energy is strong in this hexagram, the influence of the white tiger is strong, and R y is killed dirctly by it, so there will be bloodshed as soon as the white tiger is encountered. 3) 4th line is yang line residing on a ying position (I think this comes from the I Ching text) , this is saying events is about to take a turn. 4) 4th line h is imprisoned in the month, a danger sign. Fron the 4 danger signals we can deduct the tragedy happend at the 4th line. The 4th line is very close to the home on line 5, probably around 110 meters or so (4th line is h, 5th line is yo, bewteen h and yo is sh, sh is the 11th earthly branch) beacuse h and yo is separated by sh and sh is same elemet as the day, sh is strong, therefore it's not 11 meters, but 110 meters. Why head injury? The inner trigram is Chen, both trigram are also Chen, Chen represent head. The outer trigram is Duay, Duay represent breaking. The reason for the death occuring in 1977: the hider e traps the bearer R. It's like a hidden time bomb. As soon as the hider comes out in some e year there will be danger. Suppose the events happend in e II year, it would be 1965. by looking at Mr Wang age he's probably too young to be marreid at the time. We than check the following e year, which is e-VI (there is a way to assign celestral stems to the hexagram lines too), therefor it's likely to be IV year. Or suppose it was e VI year, 1989, although y does not die in VI, VI does not appear at all in the hexagarm and the casting time, and the VI combines with I (I think this comes from I being the primary chi of y) therefore the probability of the events occuring in 1989 is less than 1977.

Hao Jiang posted that information many years ago in I Ching forum . He had a thread with many examples from different I Ching books in Chinese Unfortunately I lost most of his examples. I have another example from that article will post that when i have time. The article was probably in Chinese and i have no idea where he found it, sorry.

This looks like good info.. I will check it out.. and make sure i get this... Xiao Hu, you gave me info in a website to understand the moving lines.... I have thought it was useful, but it was in an old Chinese translation... I have bought a new i ching bk, and its very good Eng translation..... Shows all the moving lines, and very good in meanings.... What bk are you using? what i ching bk? I have the Lillian Too i ching bk..... I also have looked at my ba zi and a Master read my ba zi It predicted what happened in my life.... of course there is stilll more info needed to look at my chart more to see more.... and im sure another Master might be able to see more.... Have you looked at your ba zi?

Acutully I should Thank You! I have other examples all of them printed. at least now I can keep some of the info somewhere where I won't lose it . Yes the book is in Chinese. I don't know anyone who can read Chinese can't help you with buying the book. Sorry.

Another Liu Wende example: The CEO of a Thilland compony asks me when can a certain woman expect to have a baby in the future? If this woman does have baby in the future will it be a boy or a girl?

One big danger of divinition is hints. The questioner sometimes conciously or unconciously tell you things that can give you worng perceptions, leading you to thewrong direction. If i read this hexagram using the his hints, I would conclude this certain lady has to wait until year h to have a baby (I have no idea why he didn't explain), But after looking at the hexagram I disregarded his hints and said "this woman is your wife, your current , not the previous one. She is already pregnant with a boy. Looks like I will have to congratulate you in the month h of this year. The CEO was shocked when he heard it, and said to his secretary, "Chinese Iching is so accurate". Actually he already took his wife to the hospital for examination. He knew it's a boy and the expected due date is month h. At the same time he confirmed that this is his 2nd wife. How did Mr. Liu Wende figure it out? Looking at the hexagarm the outer trigram os quite and the inner trigram is active. This is saying that the lady he's asking about is someone close to him, therefore she is his wife. However, there are 2 G stars, therefor he had another wife. Line 5 is the primary line of a hexagram , meaning the G t on line 5 represnt his first wife. But Gt is a ying line on a yang position (line 1,3,5 are yang positions, line 2,4,6 are ying positions; means this line is unstable; this came from the I Ching text), and G t and the self line Rm traps each other, and line 5 is the Hook Deity (Alex calls it yellow color; the chinese name is Guo Chen, Gua by itself means "hook") therefore their divorce has been approved (this is a play of words that's difficult to translate to English; basically it's saying the divorce papers has been approved by the judge drawing a check mark on it, and the check mark looks like a hook) Although the G h on line 3 is not on the primary line, it's yang line in a yang position, and the G h is happily combining with R m (this is called a half combination), therefore she is the 2nd wife and the current wife. K s is hiding under G h and moving on a Green line, moving Green line means event worth celebarting. The K s is at the Embryo stage, of 12 cycle under m of the self line, clearly indicating this baby is seeded by this CEO. K s is on line 3 represents abdomen, and s is at the Preganacy stage of 12 stage cycle under month cn and day cn, thereforehis wife is already pregnant inside her belly. the way the CEO asked to question seems to indicate the woman is not currrently pregnant. It's just him trying to confuse me. Line 2 and line 4 surrounds and produces K s , K s produces the belly G h, and the belly G h becomes bigger and bigger everyday. Evan though his wife is far a way in Thailland the hexagram is depicting this picture very clearly. G h moves, K s is same as the year, this is saying the birth time is month h of this year. Because after G h moves the outcome is the Zhen trigram, Zhen represents first son, and K s is a yang line is a yang position and K s is a yang line surrounded by ying lines (I think this surrounding thing came from Wild Crane's book on how to tell gender of a baby), therefore the baby is male. Sure enough the wife gave birth to a boy in month h. Two years later I met with this CEO again along with his wife and son. He said to me, this is the boy you predicted . He was very cute boy indeed!

Book name is "20 methods of Gua" wrritten by Mr Liu Wende. Didin't know Lillian Too worte a book about I-Ching is it good? what did you learn from her book? no i didn't looked at my ba zi some things are better left unknown since it doean't really matter weather i know about the future or not and the past is already known :P In the Lillian Too Bk, there are 2 methods. The Early Heaven Trigrams (from Fu Hsi) method preferred when investigatigating ques that involve timing or a luck element and the Lower Heaven Trigrams (more advanced method) emphasis on the your powers of observation and intuitive judgements, both upper and lower are derived from observed phenomena. This method is for the really proficient in consultng the i ching. You need to develop your powers of observation, heightening visual and aural senses. Develop sensitivity to moods, ambience, and attitudes of people around you. It also has the numerical aspects of the hr, day, month, and yr. Transforming words to numbers. Attributes of the Trigrams: season, direction, weather, partner indications, travel, Location of lost object and amimal or symbol.

Someone said that water is born at s, wood is born at h, fire is born at y, and metal is born at e. "the s element is seeded at m and preganancy at cn mo. and cn day" If water is born at s, then romance is yo, studying is sh, h is graduating, t is peak, c is retiring, y is sickness, m is death, cn is grave, e is disappearing, w is embryo, and wa is developing. And i dont know how you get s element is embryo at mo. cn and why does Rm trap with Gt? i think t and wa trap each other. m and cn trap each other. is zhen trigram? chen trigram?

Chinese Calendar
I was loking to download the new chinese calendar for yr. 2008 and more, but when i went to the website, the RAR files only show 6 months for the future yrs.... Theer are no first 6 months but the last 6 months.... Can someone give me the whole 12 months for the yr.?

They translated the 12 stages differently that's all. and why does Rm trap with Gt? i think t and wa trap each other. m and cn trap each other. The sets of traps are : 1st set of traps : y traps e. e traps s. s traps y. 2nd set of traps : Three t trap one m. One m traps three t. c traps sh. And sh traps wa. c, w, yo, and h trap themselves. Trapping means they hurt each other. alex didn't write much about traps you can check it here http://www.superiching.com/traps.htm. is zhen trigram? chen trigram? yea Zhen is Chen i didn't downlaod the zip file in alex's site so i have no idea why you can't see the chinese calendar for yr. 2008 but you have it in alex's book page 947.
